About Me
I’m Joseph Scott. A purpose driven IT professional forever ready to learn new technologies and work with all different clients to solve their IT problems. I strive to be an human-first problem solver there to help others achieve through the application of IT.
I began my career in the family business – a specialist wood based panel products import and distribution business – where for for 9 years I worked on improving internal IT systems as well developing and executing a marketing strategy. Growing in confidence and abilities I then made the change to full time technical consultant with a specialisation for Microsoft SQL Server in the financial & business systems market. There I worked with clients in many different sectors implementing accountancy, spend control, business and BI systems. My role also called upon my IT skills to help transition the business to a fully remote working team distributed throughout the UK.
After reaching the end of what I could do in the financial software sector I embarked upon a career break. I focused on transforming the skills and knowledge I have acquired into capabilities in data platforms, programming skills, Linux, Green IT, TCP/IP networking, and increasingly exploring the capabilities but also dangers of AI.
I now work as an IT contractor and have availability. My current tensure is for a recruitment company as a Database Administrator for the Microsoft Data Platform (MSSQL and Azure SQL) estate where I help the business look after their valulable data assets and support multiple applications.
Mental health causes are important to me both personally and professionally. In 2022 I became a facilitator for the Huddersfield group of Andy’s Man Club then in 2023 I helped set up a new group in Mirfield. Together the facilitator team are on a mission to make sure men can have a safe place to open up and talk about what’s on their mind. #ITSOKTOTALK.
